Please Note: All photographs on this website are a genuine representation of each dog and none have been digitally altered to change conformation or any other feature, apart from the removal of collars and leads where it was felt they were intrusive. We feel there is no point in featuring a dog which is not able to represent itself in its true form and our dogs are presented here, warts & all!.. Better to breed out faults and problems rather than kid yourself and others they do not exist because you have conveniently "photo-shopped' them out! ;-)
Now to our story.. Trehilyn Kennels was established in 2009 and is situated in Western Australia. It is owned by Lois Evans, a former breeder and exhibitor of Welsh Corgi Pembrokes under the SIANCOF prefix from 1984-2008 and Welsh Corgi Cardigans under the CARDIGEMS prefix from 1996-2008. Long-time dog lovers and owners, Lois' family first acquired a Pembroke Welsh Corgi puppy born on New Year's Eve 1974. This was the start of a long love affair with the Pembroke and many years later, the Cardigan Welsh Corgi. Our first Pembroke was a daughter of the tricolour dog Jodiwyn Gartersun out of a sable bitch by Lees Actor of Marketview (Imp UK). When our first Pembroke pup was about a year old, Mrs Molly Ross (Bardic Kennels WA) owner of the sire happened to see her and uttered those fateful words... "Why don't you show her?" Well along we went to a couple of Corgi Club shows but if anyone (apart from Molly) noticed we were there, I would be very surprised. There seemed to be much more important things going on. VBG After that very brief encounter with the dog show world life resumed as normal until we went back to Molly to select a dog to breed with our much loved bitch - as of course everyone in the family wanted a corgi just like her. Yes, we were the dreaded BYB's when our first litter arrived in 1977!
(Left: Ch Siancof Hot To Trot) - Molly was one of the old school of real dog people and a doyenne of the Pembroke Welsh Corgi breed having been one of the very first to introduce them into Western Australia. She did much to encourage new people into the breed and it was very fortunate for us to have such a knowledgeable and straight-talking mentor. Molly also bred and exhibited beautiful Long-Haired Miniature Dachshunds. After the litter arrived Molly did manage to get us out to a few all-breed shows with the pups and at the Perth Royal showgrounds in Claremont where dog shows were held in those days, we found a most welcoming atmosphere. Stewards, judges and people in general all kindly went out of their way to help and encourage the bewildered new exhibitors. At that first show our male puppy even won his breed and a class in group! "HUH? Y'mean we have to go back in there AGAIN?" So back to the future - The past three decades have flown by and so much has transpired, so many lessons learned.. and still being learned.
I now breed and show Pembrokes and Cardigans under the "Trehilyn" prefix and am a member of the Cardigan Welsh Corgi Association (UK); a Life Member of the Welsh Corgi League (UK) ; and member of the Welsh Corgi Club of Victoria and the Welsh Corgi Club of New South Wales. I was involved with the former Welsh Corgi Club of Western Australia from 1984 and served as a committee member, Vice President and for many years, Newsletter Editor. I have also served on various other all-breed dog club committees including the Working Dog Club of Western Australia. Apart from corgis I have owned and shown Border Collies and from my bitch CH Winpara Icee Red ADX JDX, have whelped two litters under my daughter Robyn's "Winpara" prefix.
I am qualified to judge the ANKC Working Group and future trips are planned to visit a few chosen specialty and all breeds shows overseas. I am much looking forward to learning more about the breeds within my area of special interest - the herding and pastoral type breeds. I have been involved with the CardiCommentary International Cardigan breed educational website panel since its inception and worked in the role of team leader for several years. Surrounded by the knowledge, expertise and wisdom of the international breeders and judges on the CCI website panel and due to the process of gathering and editing breed information from many and varied sources has provided an enjoyable opportunity to "absorb" a much better understanding of the Cardigan Welsh Corgi.

Finally, I hope to spend many more years enjoying and learning more about the world's wonderful herding and pastoral breeds.
